| Bronze keys are handcast and hand-tuned to give gamelan orchestras the unique sound and overtones so indicative of Balinese music.
Below: the suling (bamboo flute) rests between the kendang and a striker. Large drums are used with the semaradana orchestra, and are played by both hand and with a wooden striker. The more traditional gamelan angklung orchestras use smaller drums. |
