Tunas Mekar has performed by special invitation both internationally and nationally, and performs regularly at music festivals, schools, private events and specially produced concerts throughout the Rocky Mountain region.

Based in Denver, Colorado, USA, Gamelan Tunas Mekar is a community orchestra under the direction of Balinese composer and Artist-in-Residence I Made Lasmawan. Tunas Mekar performs the indigenous music of the island of Bali, Indonesia. Modeled after typical village groups found throughout Bali, and learning by traditional methods, Tunas Mekar provides American audiences with an authentic glimpse of one of the world's most fascinating cultures.

Join Tunas Mekar, under the direction of I Made Lasmawan, for an evening celebrating the exquisite culture of Bali. Tunas Mekar will present both dance and instrumental pieces performed on the dynamic Gong Semaradana. Featuring guest Balinese dancesr Ni Ketut Marni and I Putu Tangkas.

The program will open with a special performance by the newly formed gamelan ensemble at Metro State, Manik Kusuma. Come hear contemporary and traditional pieces performed on the beautiful gamelan angklung, and support the newest Balinese gamelan ensemble in the metro-Denver area!
